G2 Hel promoted to the Liga Nexo (Spanish 2nd tier) after 3-2 victory in the promotion tournament - first-ever female team to promote to Tier 2 of a European Regional League

G2 Hel are the first-ever female team to promote to the 2nd tier of a European Regional League.

G2 Hel, the female League of Legends team of G2 Esports, have promoted to the Liga Nexo! With yesterday’s victory in the promotion tournament, they have become the first-ever female team to promote to the 2nd tier of a European Regional League.

This split, G2 Hel placed 3rd in the Circuito Tormenta, Spain’s 3rd tier of League of Legends competition. As a result, they qualified for the promotion tournament of Liga Nexo, the 2nd tier. In their first match of the promotion tournament, G2 Hel faced Sportia Khore, who had placed 4th in the Circuito Tormenta. G2 Hel won 2-0 and advanced to the deciding match.

G2 Hel then faced Dream Makers, the 8th place team from the Liga Nexo, in a Best of 5. Dream Makers had forfeited their upper bracket match vs Kawaii Kiwis, but returned to face G2 Hel. G2 Hel fell behind twice (0-1, 1-2), but ultimately turned the series around and grabbed the 3-2 victory.

After a hard-fought 5-game series, G2 Hel bring down the nexus and get promoted.

This marks a new achievement for women’s LoL esports in Europe. While G2 Hel previously competed in the 2nd tier of a European Regional League (Northern LoL Championship's Division 2 in the 2024 spring split), back then they got their spot by applying, not by promoting. Therefore, this is the first time that a female team has promoted to the 2nd tier of a European Regional League.

G2 Hel are now expected to participate in the upcoming Liga Nexo 24-25 Split 3. In addition, they are scheduled to participate in the Equal Esports Cup (an official European event for women & enbies) starting on the 1st of July.
