G2 Hel will participate in the Northern LoL Championship Division 2
With simultaneous posts on Twitter, the Northern LoL Championship and G2 Esports have announced that G2 Hel, G2’s female team, will participate in the Northern LoL Championship Division 2 starting with the upcoming 2024 Spring Split.
The Northern LoL Championship is one of the 13 official European Regional Leagues, the 2nd tier of competition in the EMEA region. It covers the countries of 🇩🇰 Denmark, 🇫🇮 Finland, 🇮🇸 Iceland, 🇮🇪 Ireland, 🇲🇹 Malta, 🇳🇴 Norway, 🇸🇪 Sweden, and the 🇬🇧 United Kingdom.
G2 Hel have obtained their NLC Division 2 spot by applying for it. Earlier this month it was announced that Norwegian org Vanir chose to withdraw from the competition “due to unfortunate circumstances”, leaving an open spot. The organizers, citing “the disruption to lower competition that alternative methods could cause”, decided to fill this spot through an open application process; G2 Hel was chosen.
Last year G2 Hel competed in the NLC Division 3 for both the Spring and the Summer splits. They finished 6th out of 10 teams in their group on both occassions, not qualifying to the playoffs.
NLC Division 2 starts in just 2 days, on the 30th of January. The 10 competing teams will play every Tuesday, Friday, and Sunday for the regular split. The matchups haven’t been announced yet, so it’s not currently known who G2 Hel’s Playday 1 opponents will be.
