The official European female League of Legends tournament, Equal Esports Cup, returns for 2025
Confirmed participants include G2, SK, and Vitality
The Equal Esports Cup has been announced to return for 2025. The EMEA region’s tournament for women & enbies (non-binary people) will continue, taking place for the 3rd year in a row. Like last year, the grand final be held as part of Gamescom in Cologne, Germany.
The format has changed from 2024. Instead of all teams competing together in a round-robin tournament, they will be split into 2 groups, with each group playing Best of 2 round-robin. The top 3 teams per group will proceed to Best of 3 double elimination playoffs. Fearless Draft will be used.
8 teams will be invited and 4 teams will earn their spots through the open qualifier(s?). This means a total of 12 teams, which is an increase from last year’s 10 teams. 5 of the 8 invited teams have already been decided: G2 Hel, SK Gaming Avarosa, Team Vitality Rising Bees, Solary Académie, and Galions Pearl.
Last year’s tournament was won by NNOwO, who reverse-swept G2 Hel 2-1 in the final. The top 4 was completed by Team GO Aurora (now renamed to Galions Pearl) and Chester Gaming Kitten Esports Club.
