G2 Hel relegated to the Swedish 2nd division

It's an unfortunate end to G2 Hel's competitive season

G2 Hel, the female League of Legends team of G2 Esports, have been relegated to the Svenska Onlineligan (Swedish league) Division 2 following the promotion/relegation tournament. It’s their second consecutive relegation, having previously been relegated from the Northern LoL Championship Division 2 to the Svenska Onlineligan Division 1 in the past spring split.

By finishing last in Division 1 this split, G2 Hel needed to play in the relegation tournament. 5 teams competed: the bottom 3 teams from Division 1 + 2 teams from Division 2. The format was double elimination, with Best of 3 matches in most rounds and Best of 5 matches in the upper & lower bracket finals.

In the upper bracket quarterfinal, G2 Hel faced Silencio Esports from Division 2. Silencio won the match 2-0, knocking G2 Hel down to the lower bracket.

In the lower bracket quarterfinal, G2 Hel were paired with Team CD. They had played each other in the very first matchday of the split, with Team CD having won 2-0 back then. G2 Hel were the first to strike, winning an epic Game 1 after 42 minutes. Team CD hit back, taking Game 2 after 32 minutes. Then, in the decider, Team CD won in 32 minutes again, taking the 2-1 match victory and relegating G2 Hel.

This marks the end of G2 Hel’s 2024 competitive season. They also competed in the Northern LoL Championship Division 2, Storm Takeover, Equal Esports Cup, and Coupe des Étoiles. Women’s LoL esports in Europe has no remaining events in 2024.
