G2 Hel defeated 2-0 in their Swedish 1st division debut
Not the start G2 Hel, the female LoL team of G2 Esports, were hoping for
G2 Hel, the female League of Legends team of G2 Esports, made their Svenska Onlineligan (Swedish 1st division) debut yesterday. They were defeated 2-0 by Team CD, who finished Top 6 last year.

G2 Hel started off strong in Game 1. They built a small lead early on and kept expanding it, being up more than 4k gold by the 17th minute. Team CD fought back, taking the lead after a 21th minute teamfight in which they aced G2 Hel and then killed Baron. They kept the lead for the rest of the game, although it fluctuated wildly. After a closely-fought game, the decider came around 39 minutes in; Team CD won a teamfight with 4 kills to 0 and destroyed G2 Hel’s nexus shortly afterwards.
The chaotic tone of Game 2 was set immediately, as a jungle teamfight 3 minutes in resulting in 4 to 1 kills in favor of Team CD. The bloodbath kept going as Team CD maintained a fluctuating lead; 18 kills by 10 minutes, 38 kills by 20 minutes! After securing Baron in the 22nd minute, Team CD pushed on and ended the game 5 minutes later; a game averaging over 2 kills per minute!
I reached out to G2 Hel and Team CD for post-game comments. Team CD sent their jungler, Robert “Yoda” Brännström:
Yoda: “I didn’t even know that we were playing yesterday. The only member of the team I talk with is Denzel (the midlaner), and he hadn’t told me the match had been rescheduled from Sunday to Thursday. I was grocery shopping with my girlfriend when he called me and said we’re playing in 1 hour.
I had no idea who anyone from G2 Hel was except their ADC, Caltys. The games felt more like ranked flex, I even made a funny call 3 minutes into Game 1 that could have cost us the game. Game 1 might have looked shaky from the outside, but it felt very free for me as I was playing. And then, Game 2 was a stroll in the park.”

Yoda was previously also in the G2 organization, as the substitute jungler of G2 Heretics for the LVP SuperLiga 2019 Summer Split.
G2 Hel’s next SOL match is currently scheduled for Sunday the 25th of August, 19:30 CEST, versus INT Esports. However, it might be rescheduled as G2 Hel are currently in Cologne, Germany to compete in the Equal Esports Cup LAN finals this weekend. At 14:00 CEST on Saturday, G2 Hel will face Team GO Aurora in the semifinal. The winner qualifies to Sunday’s final, where they will face NNOwO at 14:30 CEST.
